The Disney animation will be brought to life on US TV network ABC in November
'The Little Mermaid' has been in the headlines recently after Disney announced a live-action version was on the way.
For fans of Ariel's story, however, there's even more good news.
TV network ABC have revealed that they are staging a live musical of the animated classic.
It will feature music from both the original animation and the Broadway adaptation. Auli’i Cravalho ('Moana') will take the titular role and Queen Latifah will play Ursula. The role of the crab, Sebastian, meanwhile, will be played by none other than Shaggy.
This is not to be confused with the live-action movie, which has announced Halle Bailey as Ariel. Melissa McCarthy is allegedly in talks to play Ursula.
The ABC musical will follow in the footsteps of previously-staged live musicals from other networks, including 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show', 'The Sound of Music' and 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. It will air in the US on November 5th.
