Although this season received a fair amount of backlash over a controversial scene involving rape, Poldark is still a huge hit for BBC.

Despite rumours that the series was being chucked, it's now been officially confirmed - by our own Aidan Turner no less - that the series is coming back for a fourth season. "We start shooting [season] four in September. It was a secret," explained Poldark earlier today at the BFI & Radio Times Festival.

Turner returning for the fourth season also finishes off that nagging rumour that Turner was in line to replace Peter Capaldi as Doctor Who in the long-running TV series, and also takes him out of the running for Bond for the foreseeable future. The third series, which is due to kick off in June, will be based on the fourth and fifth books of the original novels.
