***SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED WATCHING 'NORMAL PEOPLE'***
'Normal People' has officially finished its broadcast as it aired its final two episodes last night on RTÉ One. On Monday night, the finale aired on BBC One for British viewers. The series is also available on Hulu in the US.
'Normal People' has proven a major hit with audiences taking Marianne (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Connell (Paul Mescal) to their hearts.
Last night the two crazy kids finally got together and even spent the holidays with Connell's mammy.
However the future of their relationship is up in the air as Connell will be going to New York to complete a MFA creative-writing program while Marianne opted to stay in Ireland.
It was an emotional finale ending with the two characters tearfully saying how much they'd miss each other.
Viewers at home had the feels too.
The warm welcome from Connell's mammy at Christmas...to kissing her in front of all the friends he hid her away from in school... that she said 'I love you too' for the first time the entire show...to them sitting in a perfect heart shape on the final shot 😭😭#NormalPeople

It's a given that in fiction, ALL great love stories end sadly.#NormalPeople ends with one of the greatest lines in all love stories. EVER.

Ending was perfect IMO. With everything that’s going on, let’s focus on that. The imperfect V the perfect. Congrats to the amazing cast/writers/directors/Joe Duffy & everyone else involved & maybe, going forward, let’s think about real, genuine authentic love again #NormalPeople

The sequel to ‘Normal People’ should surely be ‘Sound People’, following the story of Niall, the roommate from Belfast, as he goes around helping fellahs with troubles. He’s the most giving and non-judgemental character since the Littlest Hobo. He’s just sound. #NormalPeople
