Netflix are no strangers to commissioning the odd TV show or two since there inception, with both House of Cards and Orange is the New Black under their belt at this stage, amongst others. Now they are finally turning their attention over to this part of the world (well, near enough to us anyways) and giving the UK their first original drama series on the streaming service.

It's going full-on British too with its choice of plot as it's set to be all about the Queen herself, wonder what she'll make of all this? Netflix have won a multi million pound deal and fought off competition from the likes of BBC and ITV in what will be a 20-part biopic according to Broadcast Now.

The drama will be written by Peter Morgan, the same guy who write the 2006 film The Queen starring Helen Mirren and will be directed by Oscar nominated Stephen Daldry. It will recount Elizabeth II’s reign from aged 26 to present day and is set to be called The Crown.

There's a bit of a wait yet as won't be released on Netflix until 2016 but by the sounds of it, this drama has got serious potential.
