Hollywood has been left stunned after the passing of Michael K Williams. Tributes have been paid to the late actor, who was found dead in his New York City apartment yesterday, Monday, September 6.
His body was found by his nephew at his Brooklyn apartment. His death is not believed to be suspicious, with police investigating a possible drug overdose.
His long-time representative Marianna Shafran told The Hollywood Reporter: "It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Emmy nominated actor Michael Kenneth Williams. They ask for your privacy while grieving this unsurmountable loss."
The 54-year-old starred in a number of high-profile TV series and movies over the years, including 'The Wire', 'Boardwalk Empire', '12 Years A Slave' and 'Ghostbusters'.
The actor has been an Emmy nominee for his roles in 'Bessie', 'The Night Of' and 'When They See Us'.
He is also currently nominated for a Supporting Actor Emmy Award for his role as Montrose Freeman in HBO's 'Lovecraft Country'. The ceremony is due to take place later this month on September 19.
