BBC Studios have decided to halt production on the soap
As the UK prepare to tighten their plans to combat coronavirus, BBC soap 'Eastenders' has decided to suspend filming.
BBC Studios released a statement in relation to 'Eastenders' suspending filming, saying: "In light of the spread of Covid-19, filming on 'EastEnders 'will be postponed until further notice... We have also taken the decision to reduce the amount of episodes we broadcast each week to two."

The soap will also air fewer episodes each week for the foreseeable future, cutting down to just two a week. Other BBC Studios soaps including 'Holby City' and 'Casualty' have also suspended filming due to the coronavirus.
Of course, unfortunately this means that many cast and crew of the soap will be left without a job for the foreseeable future. But in this desperate hour, we have to see the funny side to things, and this is where all of the 'Eastenders' memes fit in.
