'Love Island' bombshells Zara and David S will be arriving very soon
It's only been two days but the bombshells are already coming thick and fast on this year's first round of 'Love Island'.
And while we've really only seen the first 24 hours of action in the villa, we've already had a recoupling, some serious flirting and feels brewing, and lots of somewhat problematic "top three" rankings being shared.
On top of all that, you have the apparent complete loss of the perception of time by the Islanders, who keep using "this whole time" and "this entire experience" in sentences as if they've been marooned for months. If you find yourself screaming "You've been there A DAY!" at your TV, no one could blame you.
All of that aside, two new cast members are set to enter the villa this week before the first big recoupling on Friday, which will see whoever ends up single being dumped.
But before that, meet your two new bombshells.
Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown
Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown is a 25-year-old model and property developer from London.
Why 'Love Island' and why now?
It’s been something that I’ve been thinking about for a long time. My love life is a bit shambolic so it would be nice to date in a different environment as whatever I’m doing at the minute isn’t working.
What do you think you’ll bring to the Villa?
Sass, vibes and good energy. I’m a massive hype girl, I’m very complimentary so I hope to keep the vibes up in the Villa. I’ll also bring spice, I’m a bit different and I don’t think there’s anyone in there that's like me so I reckon I’ll keep things interesting.
What’s your ‘elevator pitch’ for why someone should want to date you? I’m very loving to a fault, I am a Leo and people often think Leos are arrogant but we’re just very self-assured, we love ourselves but we have the same capacity to love other people.
I’m very loyal but that means I sometimes put others before myself. But this is Love Island so I’m not going to go in there and let the girls take over because in the past I’ve been like, ‘If you like him, you have him’. I’d be an amazing girlfriend, I’m understanding, caring, fun and sexy.
Why would you say you’re single?
I have very high standards because of the industry I’m in but also because of my family. My parents have a great relationship, I’ve got an amazing mother and father and I know what works in a relationship.
How would friends/family describe you?
Eccentric, lively, energetic, loyal, kind-hearted. They would also say that I hold myself to a high regard, I know what I want and I have high standards, I like the best of the best.
What gives you the ‘ick’?
Players and if someone’s boring and doesn’t have any aspirations or ambition. Also, guys that aren’t into their fitness and health.
Do you fall in love quickly?
It takes me a while as I have high standards and I’m fussy but when I meet someone that I like I fall in love very quickly.
Tell us something not many people know about you?
I’ve always loved being on stage and performing, I did musical theatre and performing arts at university. I’m fully trained in ballet, tap and jazz and have singing qualifications which led me to get scouted as a model. I’ve since gone on to do lots of modelling and dancing for music videos for UK and global artists, I’ve worked with people like Hardy Caprio, Headie One, Aitch, Tione Wayne and more.
Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?
Halle Berry.
Who are your dream dinner party guests?
Kris Jenner, Michelle Obama and Beyonce.
David Salako
David Salako is a 24-year-old money advisor from Essex.
Why 'Love Island' and why now?
It’s exciting as I’m potentially meeting someone I’ve never met that I could bond with.
What do you think you’ll bring to the Villa?
Good vibes, energy, I’m very personable. I’m actually excited to meet new people, aside from a partner, friends as well.
What’s your ‘elevator pitch’ for why someone should want to date you?
Listen, there’s only one David Salako. There we go. If you’re in a relationship with me it’ll be nothing but good fun, vibes. I think I’m alright looking as well…
Why would you say you’re single?
I’m very picky - I haven’t met the right one yet. The person you’re going to meet is never going to be perfect, but I’ve got my standards, yeah.
How would friends/family describe you?
Joker, very ambitious and just a good person to be around.
Best / worst date story?
I met someone through an app, she was messaging me all the time. When I met her, she said, ‘I’ve been down your social media followers, you follow a lot of girls. Do you know all of these girls? If I was in a relationship with someone I wouldn’t want them following that many girls.’ I said to her, ‘This is a bit too much for me.’
What gives you the ‘ick’?
When girls sing along all messy to songs like ‘Wonderwall’ in the bar.
Do you fall in love quickly?
I’m in between. If I like you I’ll put my whole 100% into you and that could lead me into liking you quickly.
Tell us something not many people know about you?
I can sing, but I will never sing! I just haven’t got the confidence to do it.
Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?
Denzel Washington. He’s a great actor and I feel like he’d be able to understand me and he’ll be able to bring that across.
Do you have any unusual skills?
I’m a really good judge of character. I feel like I can read someone. I haven’t got any qualifications for that but…
Music is a big part of 'Love Island' - what album do you have on repeat and why? I love Lil Baby. He talks to me. He doesn’t just rap, he talks and you’re like, ‘Wow’.
Who is your celebrity crush?
Megan Fox.
Who are your dream dinner party guests?
Kevin Hart, he would have me in stitches, he’s so funny. Ice Cube. And probably Denzel Washington.
If money was no object, what would be your ideal first date?
A museum, an art gallery, maybe do some wine tasting after and some dinner.
'Love Island' continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player
