A new series to sink your teeth into

Mark Ruffalo follows the likes of Tom Hardy, Nicolas Cage and Armie Hammer, as he is set to play twins.

Mark Ruffalo leads the cast of 'I Know This Much Is True', a new series coming to HBO.

It is "a family saga between twins in a story of betrayal, sacrifice, and forgiveness."

Ruffalo plays twin brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey, the latter of whom has a mental illness.

The actor will also executive-produce the series, alongside writer and director Derek Cianfrance ('The Place Beyond the Pines', 'Blue Valentine').

Other cast members include Melissa Leo as Ma; Rosie O’Donnell as Lisa Sheffer; Archie Panjabi as Dr Patel; Imogen Poots as Joy Hanks; Kathryn Hahn as Dessa Constantine; Juliette Lewis as Nedra Frank; Aisling Franciosi as young Dessa Constantine; Simone Coppo as Vincenzo Tempesta; Bethany Kay as Miss Haas and Marcello Fonte as Domenico Tempesta.

The series is based the 1998 bestselling novel by author Wally Lamb. It will consist of six hour-long episodes.

'I Know This Much Is True' premieres on April 27.
