Speaking of the upcoming season, executive producer Weiner said: "To be able to continue exploring the stories of these characters for a sixth season is an amazing opportunity. The sixth season will consist of thirteen episodes. The season opener will be written by Weiner and directed by executive producer Scott Hornbacher. Leading man Jon Hamm will again direct the third episode in the series, while John Slattery will also take back the helm for two later episodes.
