"This news is going to thrill 'Love Island's millions of fans."
Looks like 'Love Island' fans will be getting a fix of the reality series this summer after all.
Earlier this month, it was announced that 'Love Island' will not be going ahead this summer.
Producers had considered moving the show to the UK in order to make it work. However they decided in the end that it was logistically not possible.
The bosses at ITV have since found a way to give fans of the reality dating series a pay-off for their love of the show.
A spin-off, which has been describes as having a 'Gogglebox'-style, is on the way.
It sees former contestants looking back at the most iconic moments and their favourite bits from the series.
It will be a celebration of the show’s six series over the past five years.
A source told the Daily Star: “This news is going to thrill 'Love Island's millions of fans.
“It means they will still get their fix this summer.”
Producers are hoping fan favourites of the show will sign up. These include Megan Barton-Hanson, Olivia Attwood, Kem Cetinay and Amber Gill.
The source added: “It’s going to be a lovely trip down memory lane for the contestants. They’ll be watching some of their best – and worst – moments. Seeing their reactions will be priceless.
“It will also be a chance for viewers to see how the contestants have changed since their time on 'Love Island'.”
The contestants will film in their homes and production staff will follow social distancing guidelines.
Anyone who saw the recent 'Too Hot to Handle' reunion on Netflix can expect something similar.
