It's the first time security has ever been breached
Security around the 'Love Island' villa has been ramped up after a YouTube prankster managed to gain entrance into the complex.
It turns out that last night's drama wasn't the only thing that occurred in the villa, as a concerning event happened off-camera. The 'Love Island' villa had an intruder break into the complex while the contestants were sleeping.
Omer Majid, a YouTube prankster, has become the first person who has managed to break into the 'Love Island' villa. According to The Sun, who have also got the footage of the incident, Majid was spotted in the garden of the villa complex in Mallorca, Spain before he was swiftly removed.
The UK-based YouTuber was posting videos onto his Instagram Stories during the incident, including a video of him crawling through the set. Speaking to The Daily Star, Majid said he found an entrance "via the trees and hills".
He added: "They spotted my cameraman and told him to get out I then ran for the villa and called my friend so he could put me back on the live stream… They put code red on which meant locking everybody up that was cast."
Following his appearance, the intruder was searched and released by the security guards on set, but the police were not called. Instead, security has been beefed up in case of any more unwanted guests. It is believed that none of the contestants came into contact with the YouTuber.
Following the break-in, a spokesperson for the TV series said: "Last night a security breach was identified and an intruder was removed from the Villa with immediate effect. The safety of both our islanders and our production crew remains our primary concern.
"As part of our stringent COVID safety measures, the Villa area that was trespassed has been fully deep cleaned before being made accessible again to the islanders and crew."
'Love Island' continues tonight at 10 PM on Virgin Media One. Check out the latest happenings right here.
