It's gone 'round the houses, but it's finally near.
It's a long time coming, probably as long as it'd take to come up the Lagan on a bubble, but the sixth season of 'Line of Duty' finally has something resembling a release date.
It's now been confirmed by BBC via RadioTimes that the sixth season of the hit police procedural drama will return to screens some time before the end of March 2021. Like everything else, 'Line of Duty' was hit with delays over filming due to the pandemic, stopping production in March of this year and only resuming in September just gone.
Creator Jed Mercurio has been regularly tweeting out updates from the set, which a few juicy details coming to the surface in recent months. It's understood the new season will see AC-12 square up to DCI Joanne Davidson, played by 'Trainspotting' star Kelly Macdonald, described as the team's most "enigmatic" adversary yet.
Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar are all set to return in their respective roles, while it's also been teased that the pandemic itself might potentially play a role in the new season.
All in all, it's looking 'Line of Duty' isn't running out of steam just yet, but what of Ted Hastings' supply of one-liners and truisms? Surely after six seasons, he's run out by now.
