Oooo
The Irish presenter was the well-known face of 'Love Island' since the tragic passing of Caroline Flack and last summer's season was her final for the franchise. After announcing her departure from the show in August to explore other ventures, the presenter has a new reality dating show on the horizon.
'Glow Up' presenter Maya Jama has been announced as the new presenter of 'Love Island' and meanwhile Laura has signed up for another reality show on Amazon Prime called 'Date Night'.
In a world wherein people are more likely to meet someone via an app than at a bar, it was only a matter of time before reality dating shows went app-side too.
'Date Night' will see single folk make a bid for love on television and through a special app — but it's not your average dating app experience since your entire family will decide whether or not you match with a potential partner.
Whitmore is set to narrate the show that describes the experience as "bespoke" for its contestants, "from the comfort of their sofas, alongside their friends and family, the app will be visible on their living room televisions, allowing everyone to see and comment as they browse potential dates, swipe, and chat".
Managing Director of Dragonfly Film & TV said, "Date Night is an innovative new format that will resonate with the millions of people who have been swiping left and right in the hope of finding love over the past decade".
We're adding it to our TV roster simply to see how it all pans out onscreen. But we reckon the cringe factor will be to the extreme — can you imagine what chat-up lines your ma would try to convince you to send to a potential lover? Bleh. Can't cope.
Keep you eyes peeled for a release date for this one.
