There were parts of last night's Late Late Show where you could see the blind panic in the white of Ryan Tubridy's eyes as he quite literally tried to make a show out of practically thin air.
That old meme / joke about the Late Late Show pulling guests out of the RTE Canteen was proven correct, as they could only gather up anyone and everyone within walking distance of the studio and, as Tubridy pointed out himself during the show, he didn't have a clue what was coming next.
The likes of Joe Duffy, Oliver Callan and Deirdre O'Kane were wheeled in for guest colour and, apart from the fact there was nobody in the audience, it went off like a charm.
Here's some of the reaction on Twitter.
I am screaming. The #LateLateShow has no audience, no guests and they have literally pulled people in off the street for a chat. pic.twitter.com/9JS1iGLJS0

Tubridy just opened a bag of Maltesers and there was one for everyone in the audience. #LateLateShow

I don't know what's more haunting - the potato pouring blood onto Famine skeletons or the look on Tubridy's face.

The #LateLateShow this evening is a wild ride. Marty Morrissey expected to fill 15 minutes, reporting from a local wedding in the Radisson.
