Good news Marshmallows, it's been confirmed, from the lady herself, that 'Veronica Mars' is returning for a brand new season in 2019.

There have been a lot of rumours recently about the popular series getting a revival, but Kristen Bell has made it official in an Instagram post, confirming that the new season has been commissioned by US streaming giant Hulu (which we don't have here... yet).

There's set to be eight brand new episodes of the series which will take place five years after the 2014 movie which saw Veronica move back to Neptune and hook up with a reformed Logan (Jason Dohring).

The new season will see Veronica investigating a serial killer who is threatening Neptune’s tourism industry by targeting spring breakers, a mystery that will once more pit the town’s wealthy elites against its working class.

So far we know that Bell and the show's creator Rob Thomas will be returning but it will be interesting to see who else turns up given that the series helped launch the career of so many stars, including Jessica Chastain ('Interstellar'), Krysten Ritter ('Jessica Jones'), Tessa Thompson ('Thor: Ragnarok'), Max Greenfield ('New Girl'), Leighton Meester ('Gossip Girl'), Adam Scott ('Parks And Recreation'), Aaron Paul ('Breaking Bad') and Armie Hammer ('The Social Network').

Thomas said of the new series:

No word yet on when next year we can expect to see it but we will keep you posted as well as on which Irish/UK broadcaster will get it.
