Could '24' be making a comeback?
We haven't seen the last of Jack Bauer - at least according to star Kiefer Sutherland.
'24' was one of the biggest shows on TV in the noughties and the series returned in 2014 for a limited series, but Keifer Sutherland says he "misses" playing Jack Bauer.
"I miss it. It was an incredible experience,” Bauer said of the hit thriller series.
"I have learned that you’re just better off not to be definitive about your answer of whether you will do something or not do something. I love playing that character. I do believe the story is unresolved."
He added, "if something were to be written that made sense to me and that I thought was going to contribute to the franchise then I would be behind it, even if my participation in that were to be limited.”
"My involvement will always be predicated on what I perceive is the quality of the writing. If the original showrunner Howard Gordon is motivated to do it, we’ll see what happens.”
'24' ran for nine seasons, and notably took home the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in 2006, beating out the likes of 'The Sopranos', 'House', and 'The West Wing'.
The series debuted in 2001, not long after the September 11th attacks, and Sutherland admitted he had second thoughts about continuing in the show in the wake of the incident.
"All of us felt very strongly that after that terrible day of 9/11 when our show started emulating one of the great tragedies in American history - I remember going through weeks of not wanting to do it anymore, and I think everybody on the show felt the same,” he said.
"Nobody wanted anything coming close to representing this awful thing we just watched happened. Having said that, the country felt very differently. Even if it was just a television show and a guy fighting back, that’s what they wanted. So that’s what we did.”
Sutherland was revisiting his career in an interview with CQ Magazine where he discussed his famous roles from the world of film and television.
Sutherland is the son of acting legend Donald Sutherland, and is still going strong nearly 40 years into his career.
On the big screen, Sutherland has starred in films such as 'The Lost Boys', 'Flatliners' and 'Flatliners', and was more recently seen on our screens in political thriller 'Designated Survivor' on Netflix.
'24' made something of a comeback in 2017 with '24: Legacy' but the show was canceled after one season.
2014 saw Sutherland reprise his role as Jack Bauer in '24: Live Another Day' which saw the tough guy attempt to foil an assassination attempt on the American president.
