'This Sceptred Isle' will air on Sky Atlantic in 2022
Sky has revealed our very first look at the actor in their new five-part limited series.
'This Sceptred Isle' will star 'Harry Potter' and 'Murder on the Orient Express' actor Kenneth Branagh as Boris Johnson. The series will tell the fascinating tale as some of the most devastating events within the United Kingdom happened when that Prime Minister was (and still is) in power.
Filling the shoes of outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May in 2019, the messy-haired BoJo was the leader of the UK during unprecedented times. The fallout with the European Union, Brexit, and the global pandemic will be some of the biggest occurrences which will be dramatised for the series.
Check out the first-look image of the actor as the Prime Minister.
Events throughout the five-part series will apparently be based on the first-hand testimony of people from Downing Street and the Department of Health officials. Those who encountered the Prime Minister in care homes and hospitals (where he likely caught the virus himself) were also contacted for the show.
Filming is currently underway, helmed by 'Greed' director Michael Winterbottom. 'This Sceptred Isle' will premiere on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in autumn 2022.
