She’s really put Skelmanthorpe on the map with this one.
Yorkshire lass, and first-ever female Doctor Who, Jodie Whitaker was on Graham Norton last night to promote the upcoming 11th series of the show. You can watch the first official trailer for it here.
When Graham asked her where she was from she told a weird and wonderful story about how her village had earned a fairly unique nickname. We won’t ruin the story but it involves quarry workers who were known as ‘shatters’. Yeah, you can see where this is going.
We can only imagine what her husband, American actor and writer Christian Contreras, thought when he first went to meet the in-laws.
When you listen to it we’re sure you’ll agree shat it’s a good story. Soz. Check it out here:
'Doctor Who' series 11 also stars Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill. Episode one airs on Sunday, October 7th on BBC1.
