'Odd One Out' saw the Little Mix singer reveal that she had attempted suicide after being bullied by online trolls
Jesy Nelson may be one-quarter of a hugely successful girl band, but she's also a human being - something that many people forget, as she revealed in her BBC documentary last night.
The Little MixΒ star's 'Odd One Out' documentary saw her examine the role that social media played in her depression, revealing that bullies who constantly criticised her for her looks and her weight drove her to attempt suicide a few years ago.
She also spoke to other people who had been victims of social media trolls, including the parents of one teenager who had taken her own life after being bullied online.
The documentary was really rather powerful and well-received by most people. Others, meanwhile, particularly criticised controversial commentator Katie Hopkins, who the documentary revealed had called Nelson a 'chubber' after Little Mix returned to 'The X Factor' in 2013.
Here's what people had to say about it all...
Jesy nelson is a brave beautiful women. But sadly sheβs not the only one who falls victim to the abuse from troll accounts with no identities. This has gone on for too long now. SORT IT OUT SOCIAL MEDIA WORLD. βπΌβπΌβπΌβπΌβπΌβπΌ

Wow. @KTHopkins trolled Jesy about being fat and she then tried to end her life π I hope she feels remorse but I doubt it.
A grown mother did that. Unfathomable. #JesyNelson #oddoneoutβ Lea (@itsme_lea__) September 12, 2019
What a beautiful and brave girl Jesy is. All she wanted was to be a singer and entertain people and bastards calling her fat every time she looks at social media including that odious Katie twat Hopkins. Jesy has more beauty & class in a strand of hair than that bitch #JesyNelson

So much love for @LittleMix star Jesy Nelson for showing how bad online abuse has got and for being such an incredible role model. Online bullies and the companies that enable them must be held to account. And we should all be much, much kinder #OddOneOut

The Jesy Nelson documentary on cyber bullying was really tough to watch, as it was relatable in most parts. This needs to be played in all schools and colleges up and down the country to spread awareness of online trolling and bullying.
