Although Chris Tarrant hosted the show for a total of 15 years, the show ended with his departure in 2013.
However, rumours have abounded for some time that a new version of the show was being mounted and today, the Sun is reporting that none other than Jeremy Clarkson is set to replace Tarrant as host.
The Sun reports that a deal has been finalised with Clarkson, although no air date or further details were made available. Clarkson was dropped by the BBC in 2015 after he physically assaulted an Irish man who worked as a producer on Top Gear, reportedly calling him a "lazy Irish c**t."
Clarkson settled the case with the producer for £100,000 in 2016. Since then, he has been hosting The Grand Tour on Amazon's streaming service.
