Make. This. Happen.
Jean-Luc Picard is an icon of science fiction television so it's no wonder the character got a revisit in the show 'Picard'. While that series looks at his more mature years, it'd be easy to look at his days preceding 'Star Trek: The Next Generation'. And James McAvoy could be just the guy to step into those shoes.
As any fan knows, Jean-Luc Picard is played by Patrick Stewart, also renowned for his role as Professor Charles Xavier in the 'X-Men' series. James McAvoy played the younger version of the character in the prequel 'X-Men' movies. So, having done such a good job at it, why not repeat the success?
The actor appeared on Jimmy Fallon's 'The Tonight Show' last night.
The talk show host asked could there be a world in which he'd play a young Picard? The answer was a resounding yes.
"Jimmy, that is the only world," he answered. "That is the only world that exists in which I will play a Jean-Luc Picard. Any other world is just an alternate reality in a bad episode of 'Star Trek'.
"It's happening! If they don't hire me, I'm going to make it on my phone.
"Listen, I'm calling it right now. I'm doing the virtual lockdown equivalent of rubbing my scent all over Patrick [Stewart]'s face and saying this territory is mine. All other bald actors can f*** off."
Brilliant.
