Potentially sad news for many a Peppa Pig fan this morning as there are rumours ABC might have to chop the popular kiddies programme.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald the "UK program is the No.1 downloaded children's show on ABC's iView and attracts about 2 million views a month, but the Abbott government budget cuts have forced the public broadcaster to look across its operations for savings."
The managing director of ABC, Mark Scott, was somewhat put on the spot regarding the future of the beloved animation during a 'Senate estimates hearing': "Scott said the corporation had contracts in place to continue Peppa Pig in the immediate future, but things were muddier down the track. 'The services we provide depend on the funding envelope,' he said."
Labor Senator Louise Pratt had brought up the future of Peppa Pig as she was "concerned about her dangerous feminist ideology."
In case you've never sampled the delights of Peppa Pig, here you go. You're welcome.
