Based on the true-crime book by Michelle McNamara
An engrossing new docu-series is on the way to our screens later this summer.
'I'll Be Gone In The Dark' is a new six-part documentary series based on the book by author Michelle McNamara. McNamara, who was of Irish descent, died in her sleep in April 2016 at the age of 46.
Her true crime novel, entitled 'I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer', was released posthumously by her actor husband Patton Oswalt in 2018, and this new series aims to highlight his late wife's investigation into the man she called The Golden State Killer.
Fascinated by everything true-crime related, McNamara’s investigation into the dark world of this violent predator saw her uncover shocking information - the name of her book is a line which The Golden State Killer said to one of his victims: "You'll be silent forever, and I'll be gone in the dark."
Directed by Academy Award nominee and Emmy-winning director Liz Garbus, the six-part series aims to highlight the incredible work which McNamara underwent while writing the novel, and also exploring the difficulty her husband Patton, crime writer Paul Haynes, and investigative journalist Billy Jensen went through to put all of her writings into a novel following her untimely death.
Here's the trailer for the what looks like a gripping new docu-series.
'I'll Be Gone in the Dark' will premiere on Sky Crime this August.
