It's just been announced by NBC that the once-hugely popular but got really bad towards the end Heroes is being rebooted next year. It's early days yet as there's no word if the original cast - namely Zachary Quinto and Hayden Panetierre - will be returning to the series. The original series debuted back in 2006 with one of the most well-received opening seasons ever. However, the series went downhill very quickly and was cancelled halfway through its fourth season.
A 2-hour TV movie had been planned - sort of like 24: Redemption - to wrap up the series' plot, but even this couldn't get off the ground. Initial thoughts? We loved Heroes when it first came out. Keep in mind, this was at a time when superhero / comic-book films were just starting to get mainstream acceptance so to see something like this on TV was incredible. We've now got Arrow, Agents of SHIELD and Gotham is shaping up to be pretty interesting. Is there any real need for a Heroes reboot? It's highly unlikely they'll recapture the same quality from the first series, but time will tell.
