It’s hard to believe but the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones season 7 aired in the US last night (it’ll be repeated on Sky Atlantic tonight) while the trailer for its final episode is already online.
As previously announced, the eighth season of GOT will consist of 6 episodes, and we have no idea how they’re going to wrap everything up in such a short span of time. Needless to say, every single moment of the series has added weight now.
It has been revealed – first by Jaime Lannister actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in an interview with Collider, and now by Entertainment Weekly – when season 8 will start filming.
The show’s final episodes will start shooting this October, which is later than any season prior. Season 6 started filming in September last year, which was also later than previous seasons. As with that season, the reason for shooting later in the year is to accommodate the winter-set scenes.
Previous reports claimed that the episodes for season 8 would be feature-length at around an hour and a half each, but this has not been confirmed by HBO.
There is also no release date for season eight yet, and there’s a possibility that the series could be delayed until as late as 2019.
