Like the first season of 'True Detective', it looks like this new season will be set across different timelines. It'll also involve the disappearance / murder of a child, and it's going to be pretty weird about it as well.
Mahershala Ali plays Detective Wayne Hays, who's working a case in the heart of the Ozarks, an area of land in the US that covers Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas. If you've watched Netflix's 'Ozark', you've got an idea of the region itself. Mamie Gummer plays the mother one of the missing children, whilst 'Fantastic Beasts' star Carmen Ejogo plays one of their teachers.
It all looks pretty promising, to say the least, and it does feel like a return to form for the series after the so-so second season.
'True Detective' lands on HBO on January 13th, and will likely play on Sky Atlantic either that night or the next day.
