The series would reportedly focus on J.K. Rowling's original books
Considering the success of the original film adaptations as well as the various 'Fantastic Beasts' movie spin-offs, it was inevitable that 'Harry Potter' would get the TV treatment at some point.
It may come sooner than you think, too, as HBO Max are reportedly in talks with Warner Bros. to bring the boy wizard's story to the small screen.
The TV series will focus on J.K. Rowling's original book series, the first of which - 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' - was published in 1997, rather than take the spin-off or sequel route. The plan is to adopt each book per season, meaning that there is potential for seven seasons in total.
Rowling will be involved creatively in the series, according to Bloomberg, but will not act as showrunner or its primary creator.
They report how the talks are still at the preliminary stage, but Warner Bros. - the studio responsible for the film adaptations - has been seeking to adapt the series for TV for several years.
Although the deal has yet to be fully confirmed - with HBO Max choosing not to comment - let the feverish speculation about casting begin!
