Doctor Who fans rejoice! BBC Worldwide has finally announced details of the Time Lord's 50th anniversary celebrations! Seems there's going to be quite the party in November.
It's 50 years since the Doctor first appeared on our screens, all the way back in November 1963, and the BBC are certainly planning to celebrate a half century of TARDIS travel in style. Make a date in your dairy Whovians, there will be a special three-day event at the ExCeL Centre in London from Friday November 22nd to Sunday November 24th.
Sadly though, the gang behind the big event haven't told us anything about it. All we know is that it will most likely celebrate the TARDIS and all who have time travelled within her over the past 50 years. Amanda Hill, Chief Brands Officer at BBC Worldwide, expects quite the turnout for the event. "We cannot wait to welcome Doctor Who fans from around the world to London in November. It's going to be a spectacular weekend!" she said.
"Generations of fans young and old have been captivated by the Doctor and we've seen the show go from strength to strength, enjoying something of a global march over the past few years attracting new followers from Turkey to Brazil to South Korea. 2013 is an opportunity for fans around the world to come together and celebrate the glorious past, present and future of Doctor Who", Hill added.
We hear the Royal Mail will be getting involved too, releasing a set of 11 Doctor Who stamps, each featuring a different incarnation of the Doctor, on March 26th. Well lads, you know you've made it when your face is on a postage stamp!
