In possibly the weirdest turn of events for Graham Norton of late, it looks like his hometown of Bandon, Co. Cork is going to be making a permanent fixture of the man, after announcing that there's going to be a statue of the TV legend smack bang in the middle of town.
The plan to unveil a statue honouring his achievements in TV and entertainment was announced by members of the Cork Gathering event, in hopes of luring the TV host and comedian back to the town for celebrations from October 14th to 20th. Cork Rebel Week spokesman Padraic O’Kane said "The application from Bandon includes details of a statue of Graham Norton, though it is not known yet if he has accepted the invitation to unveil it."
Graham got the news on his 50th birthday yesterday, and he initially thought it was a wind-up.
Stranger things have happened though, just look at the Joe Dolan statue in Mullingar. Fingers crossed Graham's will be more complimentary.
