After a health scare some time ago, Gay Byrne is on the mend with his cancer treatments and says that he is ''making progress''.
Speaking to the Sunday Independent, Byrne said that the treatment "seems to be working," and that "been quite good so far." The veteran broadcaster and former host of 'The Late Late Show' was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2016 and has been receiving treatments ever since, admitting that health is "worth more than every penny and anything else."
"I don't experience any pain - it's all just general disorder. Having enjoyed robust health for 83 years, you wonder what the hell is wrong with you," Byrne explained.
Since leaving 'The Late Late Show' in 1999, Uncle Gaybo's been pretty busy. He was appointed chairman of the RSA in 2006, hosted 'The Meaning Of Life' in 2009 where he famously interviewed Stephen Fry (which ended up being part of a blasphemy investigation and some memes as well), and was even tipped for Áras an Uachtaráin at one point.
Of course, we all know who's in there at the minute and he's doing just fine.
