Let's just hope your boss doesn't go all Dracarys about it when you turn up on Tuesday.
Given how the Americans across the water get to watch 'Game of Thrones' at a reasonable hour, you'd imagine they'd be fine with staying up to watch it.
After all, it arrives on HBO in the States at 9PM EST and the episode runs for 79 minutes - plenty of time to digest whatever happens and get a full night's sleep. Here in Ireland, however, it's a different story as the episode simulcasts at 2AM on Sky Atlantic.
So, what's the solution? Well, you can either stay up and head into work on Monday somewhat bleary-eyed, or you've booked the day off entirely (or are planning a sickie for that day). Data from the Workforce Institute in the US has it that at least 27 million workers believe their productivity will be impacted by the finale of 'Game of Thrones'.
A good chunk, however, are taking it one step further. At least 10 million workers who typically are rostered for Sunday in the US say they're planning to skip work for the night. In fact, so far, at least 7.3 million respondents to the survey admitted they've either called in sick or used a vacation / personal day on Monday due to 'Game of Thrones'.
In short, if you see someone calling in sick on Monday, don't be in the least bit surprised that it's because of 'Game of Thrones'.
We'll have a full review and all the coverage you could possibly want from 5AM, right here on site, because we can't very well skip work when this is basically our work.
