"It's about self-respect"
John DiMaggio, who voiced Bender in the series 'Futurama', shared an update regarding his return to the revival series which was announced last week.
Created by Matt Groening and David X. Cohen, 'Futurama' originally ran from 1999 to 2003.
It was revived from 2007 to 2009 as four films which were later broken up into episodes.
The show was revived again twelve years ago and this latest also comes from Groening and Cohen.
Fans were concerned when the voice line-up for the revival, which airs on Hulu in 2023, did not include DiMaggio.
Voice cast members Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr and David Herman are all returning.
DiMaggio said he would "keep you posted" in a message to fans on Twitter, regarding his involvement in the 'Futurama' revival.
He has now spoken out on the platform, saying he and the rest of the cast should be paid more for the revival.
In a statement on Twitter, he wrote: "I’ve been thinking about everything that’s been going on these past months and just to be clear, I don’t think that only I deserve to be paid more. I think the entire cast does.
"Negotiations are a natural part of working in show business. Everyone has a different strategy and different boundaries. Their "price." Some accept offers, some hold their ground."
He continued: "Bender is part of my soul and nothing about this is meant to be disrespectful to the fans or my ‘Futurama’ family. It’s about self-respect.
"And honestly, [it’s about] being tired of an industry that’s become far too corporate and takes advantage of artists’ time and talent.
"Look, I wish I could give you every detail so you would understand, but it’s not my place. Thanks again for the love everyone. Still hoping for the best."
DiMaggio also said he is currently in New Orleans shooting 'Interview with a Vampire' for AMC.
Production on the 'Futurama' revival is set to begin this March.
