It's only a few short weeks until The Simpsons begins its unbelievable 26th season, and while we know it will be the Griffin family of Family Guy that will be taking over the premier episode, we won't be too long waiting for some other familiar animated friends to step into Springfield.
We did know there was a plan for a Simpsons/Futurama crossover, but it's only now that plot details have emerged and a pic has been released (below). Futurama was controversially cancelled last year so fans will be delighted to see the gang return to the screen with all the cast reprising their roles.
The official synopsis of the episode is; "A complex, ‘Terminator’-esque story that involves Bart blowing his nose on a sandwich that he places in a time capsule. When that mixes with Milhouse’s rabbit’s foot and some radioactive ooze, it creates a global catastrophe in the future, prompting Bender to travel back in time to kill Bart and prevent this mega-mess."
Yep definitely complex, but sure The Simpsons can get away with just about anything at this stage.
The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean said; "They were going off the air, so I thought people would really love it if we had one more chance to see those characters. We’re always looking for things that are compatible with us, and I thought, ‘Well, what’s more compatible?’ We do a joke, actually, about how similar Bender and Homer look. Like, they just erased Homer’s hair."
They DO look alike, why have we never saw that before...
The episode will be called Simpsorama and has self-deprecatingly been given the tagline “a show out of ideas teams up with a show out of episodes.”
It will air November 9th on Fox and probably (we hope) not too long after that on Sky.
