Stop everything, this is not a drill.... and the usual things we say when you absolutely have to read something. Father Ted, the show that is practically a national institution, might be turned into a musical folks, for realz.
It will if the show's creator Graham Linehan has anything to do with it anyways. He has said he would actually be quite into the idea; “I would never bring back the TV show, because of the risk you poison people’s memories of the original," he told Radio Times. "But if you were to come up with a completely new format, I think it would be worth doing. I have this vision of a dance number, with spinning cardinals."
He also said if the project were to go ahead, he wouldn't hide away from any of the scandals in the church in recent years saying; 'You just can’t ignore this stuff'.
Father Ted co-creator Arthur Mathews is 'not as convinced' Linehan said, but he thinks 'it could work'.
Really? We're not sure WHAT Dermot Morgan would have made of this...
