"I was NOT this cute"
Both actors have found the funny side to HBO Max's editing error, which was noticed by fans in the reunion special that aired on New Year's Day.
The Emmas have come out in force, raging a war against Ho Who Must Not Be Named for the recent blunder in the 'Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts' reunion special this month... Of course they haven't, they've taken it in their stride. Both Emma Watson and Emma Roberts have been the funny side of the mistake made by HBO Max.
Spotted by eagle-eyed fans after the special's release, an old photograph of Roberts was used instead of Watson, who played brain box Hermione Granger in the franchise, during a trip down memory lane in the new feature. Producers released a statement to Entertainment Weekly that read: "Well spotted Harry Potter fans! You brought an editing mistake of a mislabeled photograph to our attention. New version up shortly."
While the mishap has been remedied by HBO Max now (as well as the second mistake involving twin brothers Oliver and James Phelps), both Emma Watson and Emma Roberts have joked about the situation on social media in the last 24 hours.
Watson posted the photo of the American actor onto her Instagram grid, captioning the post with the hashtag "Emma Sisters Forever": "I was NOT this cute, @emmaroberts [crying laughing face] #emmasistersforever."
Roberts responded to Watson in her Instagram Story, writing: "Haha! I don't believe that! @emmawatson." She also posted a couple of lips kissing alongside the emoji of two girls dancing together.
And so, all is well in what fans have dubbed "The Emmaverse".
The 'Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts' reunion special saw Watson return to where her career began, alongside other actors from the series such as Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Evanna Lynch, Tom Felton, Robbie Coltrane, Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes.
You can catch 'Return To Hogwarts' via Sky TV and NOW.
