She said that a fellow actor recently confessed to her that he was responsible
The final season of 'Game of Thrones' came in for a lot of criticism from some quarters, but one of the most bizarre was coffee cup-gate.
If you'll recall, eagle-eyed viewers spotted a coffee cup in one scene and there was an uproar about how the biggest show on TV could have overlooked such a detail.
It appeared in a scene with Emilia Clarke aka Daenerys Targaryen, and several of her co-stars (and even the writers) discussed the gaffe.
And although David Benioff and DB Weiss claimed (or perhaps joked) that the cup was meant to be there, Clarke has finally revealed who was responsible.
During an interview with Jimmy Fallon last night, she said: "We had, like a party before the Emmys recently, and Conleth [Hill], who plays Varys, who’s sitting next to me in that scene... he pulls me aside and he’s like, “Emilia, I’ve got to tell you something. I’ve got to tell you something, love. The coffee cup was mine!”
She added: "It was his! It was Conleth’s coffee cup. He said so. He said he didn’t want to say anything at the time because “the heat was very much on you” and I was like “what?” So that’s who I think that did it. Well, he told me he did it - but then he might have been drunk."
So, now we know. We can sleep easy tonight.
