All of this new information is overwhelming, yet very exciting
Hold onto your smart TV's, because new streaming service Disney+ is on the way.
Possibly Netflix's biggest streaming contender has entered the fray - and if we were them, we'd be a little bit worried. Disney's new streaming service Disney+ has just revealed a shed-load of new information. We're here at entertainment.ie to break it down for you in a nice, simple way.
When's it launching?
Disney+ looks set to launch globally on November 12th. Hopefully that means here in Ireland too. If it does, that means that while we still have a few more months of waiting, we'll have it just in time for Christmas for all of our endless 'Star Wars' streaming marathons, selection boxes in hand. Glorious.
But I already have Netflix - isn't that good enough?
Yes and no. While Netflix has been known to feature various Marvel and Disney titles in its time, these will likely begin to be taken off the streaming service over the coming months. Titles that are currently on Irish Netflix such as 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' and 'Ant-Man' will probably disappear before Disney+'s launch. The same goes for Marvel's TV superheroes 'Luke Cage', 'Daredevil', and the rest too. Of course, Netflix will continue to make original content, but none that will feature anything Marvel related unfortunately.
So what will actually be on Disney+?
Well, to be honest, everything you can think of that has a Disney stamp to it. As you can see from the main picture above, the streaming service will be split into different sections for you to browse through. There's Pixar's whole back catalogue just waiting to be watched, such as 'Toy Story', 'Up', 'Cars', 'Monster's Inc.', 'Coco' and everything else you can name.
There's the classic Disney franchises that we all know and love, including 'Frozen 2' which will be an exclusive on Disney+ - after it releases theatrically; and all of the past Disney classics such as 'Snow White'.
There will be a 'Star Wars' button, which will transport you onto the intergalactic missions of every movie and TV show from the franchise - even first entry 'A New Hope'. There's also the highly anticipated 'Mandalorian' TV series written by Jon Favreau, with Taika Waititi and Bryce Dallas Howard up for directing; as well as a brand new reveal of 'Rogue One' getting its own prequel series.
All of the Marvel superhero movies that have been released in the last 10 years will also be there. From 'Iron Man' right up to, we're guessing, 'Avengers: Endgame' which is to release in cinemas in a couple of weeks time. 'Captain Marvel' has already been announced as an online exclusive from day one.
And not forgetting all of the planned Marvel TV series that are in the pipeline. Kevin Feige announced 'WandaVision' starring Scarlet Witch and Vision is in development; as well as Tom Hiddleston in a 'Loki'-related show; and another cross-over starring Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie in 'Falcon & Winter Soldier'. There's also the exciting new animated series based on Marvel Comics' "What If?" storylines; each episode will be dedicated to a superhero, or team, that is vastly different from how we know them today - such as if Steve Rogers hadn't taken the super soldier serum, but Peggy Carter had.

Everything Fox Related, including 'The Simpsons'
Now that Disney's takeover of Fox is well and truly a sealed deal, Disney+ is set to get nearly everything the company used to own. So, we expect the likes of the 'X-Men' and 'Fantastic 4' movies; The National Geographic channel will have its own button, with all of its inquisitive nature shows; and of course, every single episode of 'The Simpsons', who got into the spirit of their "new corporate overlords."
Disney may roll-out Hulu internationally
Hulu is not over this side of the world, and now that Disney has a stake in it thanks to the Fox acquisition, they may be rolling it out over here soon. If it does, then there will be a deal of merging Hulu content with Disney+ content into a bundle offer.

Can't you just take my money now?
Yes, if you'd like to donate money to us here at entertainment.ie - we'll make sure to get you up and running... All joking aside, the service has revealed that in The States, it will cost $6.99 per month, or $69.99 per year. No word yet on what the cost will be here in Europe, but we guess it will more than likely will be €6.99 or €7.99. Unlike Netflix, it seems every user will get the same package experience for the same price. And as long as you remain a subscriber to Disney+, you'll be able to download all content and watch offline too.
