Oh, this one might divide 'Friends' fans
Whose side are you on?
The running gag of "We were on a break" has been known to spark quite the debate amongst fans of the sitcom, with some siding with Rachel Greene's side of events, and others with Ross Geller's. In case the storyline is a bit hazy for you - Ross thinks that he and Rachel had broken up, and ended up cheating on her with Chloe. However, Rachel believes them to be on a cooling-off period (but did invite Mark over for some comforting FYI). Thus, Ross gets found out, and the pair of them break up for real.
As David Schwimmer's Ross spouts the "We were on a break" line back at Rachel, who first coined the term, he created one of the best and most-quoted lines from the comedy series. And whoever's side you might be aligned with, Schwimmer has now given us his two cents on the scenario - more than two decades after the events took place.
Speaking with Jimmy Fallon on 'The Tonight Show' recently, Schwimmer told the presenter that when he's out and about, people usually shout "Pivot!" or "You were on a break!" at him. He continued: "People are so passionately divided about whether or not that they were on a break.
Asked which side he’s on, Schwimmer replied with a point-blank: "Yeah, it’s not even a question. They were on a break."
