Is it is just us, or does David Duchovny look pretty much the exact same as he did twenty years ago when filming 'The X Files'? God bless that hair line I suppose, but he really does seem to be bloody ageless. Anyways, that's besides the point, the actor is currently all set for a brand new TV drama about renowned serial killer Charles Manson.
Duchovny will play a Los Angeles detective investigating the Manson cult during the late 1960's, in what will be a 13-episode show called 'Aquarius'. The actor has said; "I'm thrilled to be working with [NBC Entertainment chairman] Bob Greenblatt again and coming back to broadcast television. I think 'Aquarius' has a chance to be a special show, and I can't wait to get going."
Greenblatt also added; "After being involved in the production of both ‘The X-Files’ and ‘Californication,’ it gives me great pleasure to work with David Duchovny for the third time on this compelling drama. I’m especially pleased that he wanted to come to NBC where I know there is a big audience waiting to see him."
It was announced in December last that 'Californication' would end after its seventh season, which will begin shortly on April 13th. While he played struggling author Hank Moody in that series, this latest drama will be more of return to his previous breakout role as Detective Fox Mulder. In fact, maybe a tad too similar... but I'm sure the 1960's setting and the lack of aliens and what not will separate the two.
NBC said in a statement: "The twists and turns of a complicated undercover operation will lead Duchovny's character and his young partner to the brink of Manson's crimes that will eventually lead to the Tate-LaBianca murders in subsequent seasons."
Duchovny will also executive produce the series, although it is not known as of yet when we can expect to see it.
