What was meant to be a dramatic moment turned out hilarious

Dating series like 'Love Island' and 'The Bachelor' have proven massive TV hits. But now and again there comes along a dating show - like Netflix's recent 'Sexy Beasts' - that leaves viewers gobsmacked.

The latest Channel 4 dating show (the same network that gave us the cringeworthy 'Naked Attraction') will apparently do just that.

But it may have more viewers laughing and perplexed more than genuinely moved.

'The Love Trap' sees twelve women compete for the affections of a single eligible bachelor and personal trainer, David Birtwistle.

(In fact, if you've been inclined to watch a dating show or two on Netflix, you'll likely recognise him from 'Too Hot to Handle')

However half of the ladies are secretly only in it for the cash prize of Β£20,000, and not all of them are single.

'The Love Trap' has been airing on Wednesday nights for the past couple of weeks now, but a clip from the first episode only just went viral.

We don't want to spoil it, but essentially, it sees David choose which of three of the contestants he feels has been fibbing and is a "love trap".

Have a look.

The reactions on Twitter have been pretty fantastic.

The first two episodes of 'The Love Trap' are on the Channel 4 player now. The dating show continues on Wednesday nights on Channel 4 at 10pm.
