The actors spoke of the legacy their films have left behind
With 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' currently in cinemas, the three original stars got together with Jimmy Fallon.
As we've all learned over the past couple of revivals of the franchise, you simply cannot top the original two 'Ghostbusters' films. Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd decided to reunite on television last night to discuss the legacy their films from the '80s has left all these years later.
The new entry in the 'Ghostbusters' franchise, 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife', sees all three actors return, as well as Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts reprising their roles from the original films. The film has received quite a mixed reaction from critics and fans, with entertainment.ie awarding the film one and a half stars, citing "a distinct lack of slime".
However, that didn't stop the three of them from cashing in some surprise appearances in the new film. When asked by Fallon why they decided to return now all these years later, Aykroyd said: "Jason Reitman wrote a great script, so full of heart, going right back to the first two movies and its DNA. And we just read it and thought, 'this is the right time and this is the right way to do it'."
The actors also spoke about the time that they had some police motorcycles available to them and decided to go for a ride around Central Park, and even managed to pull over some pedestrians. Murray added that they were "helping out".
Akyroyd and Murray also recounted some memories from their time spent on 'Saturday Night Live', including the time Aykroyd showed Fallon around the building and showed him the secret roof garden on the eleventh floor of 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
