You may be bracing yourselves for the upcoming finale of Downton this Sunday, but you will also be happy to hear that the period drama has officially be renewed for another season!

A sixth series of the show has been commisioned by ITV, with the director of drama Steve November saying; "It’s fantastic that Downton continues to be such a phenomenon. We don’t yet know what Julian (Fellowes) has planned, but we’re looking forward to working with him, the fantastic cast and Carnival (Films) again and have no doubt series six will be unmissable."

Downton's executive producer, Gareth Neame added; "The whole team is thrilled to be moving ahead with a new season of the show."

The series will be shown late next year, and in between times don't forget you've got the Christmas special to look forward to where Mr George Clooney himself is set to stop by for some Crawley style festivities.
