Obama loves a bad word, just like the rest of us
What the fork - it seems Obama loves a filthy curse word. That is, if you look at the TV shows that he watches in his downtime.
Former US President Barack Obama recently revealed which TV show titles are on his watchlist - and it's fair to say that he's got a pretty fine taste. And a love for the c-word, perhaps.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the former President, now memoir author, discussed which titles helped his get through writing his new books.
Top of the list was Netflix's 'Better Call Saul' - so naturally, he must have also seen 'Breaking Bad' then. There's also 'The Good Place' which he describes as a "goofy comedy", as well as HBO's 'Watchmen' and Amazon Prime's 'The Boys'.
Obama says that it was these shows which inspired the first of his forthcoming memoir books, 'The Promised Land'. Part one is available now and discusses the intricacies of being the 44th President of the United States between the years 2009 and 2017.
On which TV shows allowed him a break from reality, he said: "'Better Call Saul', because of its great characters and examination of the dark side of the American dream. 'The Good Place' — it’s a wise and sweet combination of goofy comedy and big philosophical questions. And 'Watchmen' and 'The Boys', for how they turn superhero conventions on their heads to lay bare issues of race, capitalism, and the distorting effects of corporate power and mass media. Oh, and the NBA playoffs — because it’s hoops!"
The showrunner of 'The Boys' Eric Kripke tweeted his delight at seeing his TV show among the choices by Barack Obama.
Ummm. You guys? HOLY. SHIT.
