The Geordie presenters have made TV history
Who was to know that in 2001, the same guys who picked up their first NTA Award would still be wiping the floor with their competition 20 years later?
Ant and Dec have made history by winning the Best Presenter NTA Award for the 20th year in a row.
The National Television Awards took place in London last night, which celebrates the best of UK television, with the adoring public voting on which TV show they deem the winners of each category.
Last night's 26th edition of the show was hosted by comedian Joel Dommet at the O2 Arena in Greenwich, which was initially due to take place in January of this year.
Ant and Dec were the big winners on the night, claiming their 20th Best Presenter NTA in a row, fighting off competition from Holly Willoughby, Alison Hammond, Bradley Wash, and ex-'Good Morning Britain' host Piers Morgan.
During their speech, Ant told the audience: "The first year we won an NTA, Tony Blair was the Prime Minister and Newcastle United qualified for the Champions League. That just goes to show how long ago that was."
"This one means the most. Twenty years. This is really, really special. You have no idea how special this is."
Dec added: "It's pretty overwhelming to be honest with you. When you get to 20, you can't help but stop and look back at the first time we won in 2001, and so much has changed in both our lives since then but one thing that hasn't changed is how unbelievably grateful we are that you take time year after year to watch both of us."
As well as their presenter win, the Geordie pair also won in the entertainment category with 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here' which took home the Sir Bruce Forsyth Award.
Other winners on the night were 'It's A Sin' for New Drama, 'Line of Duty' for Returning Drama, 'The Great British Bake Off' for the Challenge Show category and 'Gogglebox' for Best Factual. Netflix and Ricky Gervais' 'After Life' also scooped the Best Comedy NTA.
