When we first heard about that Murder, She Wrote reboot we were quite frankly appalled. 'There's only one Jessica Fletcher and one Murder, She Wrote', we cried and that's exactly what the main woman herself, Angela Lansbury has been saying it too.
"I think it's a mistake to call it Murder, She Wrote" she told the Associated Press when asked about the series, "because Murder, She Wrote will always be about a Cabot Cove and this wonderful little group of people who told those lovely stories and enjoyed a piece of that place, and also enjoyed Jessica Fletcher, who is a rare and very individual kind of person."
She's apparently been approached to get involved with the reboot, but judging by her comments we'd say that's a no-go area... "I'm sorry that they have to use the title Murder, She Wrote, even though they have access to it and it's their right," Lansbury added.
However, Angela did say she's got a lot of respect for the lady they've drafted in to replace-but-not-replace her. Y'see wOctavia Spencer (who's a brilliant actress in fairness) won't be playing Jessica Fletcher, she's actually playing another amateur sleuth. We're guessing this is how they're going to 'modernise' the series.
"I saw her in The Help and thought she was absolutely wonderful, a lovely actress" Lansbury said. "So I wish her well, but I wish it wasn't in Murder, She Wrote." Us too Ange, us too.
