Ah 1994, a much simpler time. When your biggest worry was if Ross would ever end up with Rachel; or if you'd manage to get your hands on a Playstation 1 for Christmas. It was also a time when Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell were the big-screen heartthrobs, starring in the romantic comedy 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'.
Now, the iconic film is set to make a limited series run on streaming service Hulu. The reboot is set to follow four friends, including MacDowell's character. Not called Carrie anymore, Maya will now be played by 'Game of Thrones'' Nathalie Emmanuel. Emmanuel plays Daenerys Targaryen's right-hand woman Missandei in the fantasy series, and before this she was a regular on 'Hollyoakes'. Jessica Williams was originally set to play the character.
Maya (Emmanuel) and her three friends Craig (Brandon Mychal Smith), Ainsley (Rebecca Rittenhouse), and Duffy (John Reynolds) all head to London to reunite for a wedding. Naturally, more than that happens in the movie, and we'll see it all unravel on its own TV series.
MacDowell is set to play Ainsley’s mother, Mrs. Howard. Her casting provides a link to the 1994 classic, which was written by Richard Curtis and directed by Mike Newell.
The 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' reboot is set to be executive produced by Mindy Kaling, who is known for her work on 'The U.S. Office' and 'The Mindy Project'. Others cast in the reboot include Zoe Boyle, Harish Patel, Guz Khan, and Jennie Jacques who starred in 'Vikings'.
