*snaps twice*

They're about to get a more lot more creepy and kooky...

Tim Burton is helming a new live-action 'Addams Family' TV series, which has us both excited and deeply concerned. Burton, known for beauties such as 'Edward Scissorhands' and 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' has had a run of near-misses of late. But possibly a return to the realm of television will bring a spark of wickedly great family viewing.

According to reports, MGM, who control the rights to the horror/family franchise, is putting a package together for a new live-action TV series. Burton is attached to executive produce and potentially direct all of the episodes. Writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar ('Smallville') are also on board as head writers and showrunners.

Also, it looks like the source material might be played around with. Wednesday Addams, who was played by Christina Ricci in the '90s movies, and voiced by Chloe Grace Moretz in the new animated version, will be the main character. The live-action 'Addams Family' TV series is expected to be set in the modern-day too, which strays massively from its original beginnings in 1938.

Burton has another title in the pipeline that we're quite intrigued to see next too - 'Beetlejuice 2'. The movie has been on and off for a number of years, but apparently is still in active development, with the horror filmmaker attached to return as director.

He's teamed up once again with Danny Elfman, who wrote the score of the original (and countless other Burton releases such as 'Batman Returns' and 'Edward Scissorhands').

However, if any of the cast of the original plan on returning - Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin, Catherine O'Hara, or Geena Davis - still remains a mystery.

If you're in the mood for some 'Addams Family' goodness in your lives right now - 'tis the season - then Netflix has both of the '90s movies and the 2019 animated movie available to watch right now.
