Musicians normally make for a pretty memorable scene in TV shows
TV shows have been known to keep us on our toes when it comes to cameo appearances from famous musicians.
While some only get moments to shine, other cameo appearances involve a musician performing one of their hit songs. Here are five popular TV shows that have featured many a famous musician in their time.
'Sabrina the Teenage Witch'
During its seven-season run, 'Sabrina' featured some truly awesome cameos. From Britney Spears to Paula Abdul, NSYNC to Avril Lavigne, and even Ashanti, Sabrina's popularity managed to pull in a famous singer or five. However, one appearance that sticks out in our minds the most is when US band Violent Femmes, of 'Blister in the Sun' fame, had their album signing. An infatuated Libby manages to "hypnotise" lead singer Gordon Gano into being invited to an afterparty.
'Entourage'
Eight seasons and a movie of 'Entourage' spawned a host of A-list talent popping up every now and again. The likes of U2, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, Tony Bennett, T.I., 50 Cent, Bono (again), Lenny Kravitz, and Christina Aguilera all made appearances - and that's just those who are linked to the music industry. One of the most memorable musicians, however, was when Eminem punched a well-deserving Vincent Chase right in the kisser. Just be warned - this is 'Entourage', so there's plenty of swearing in the clip below.
'One Tree Hill'
The US TV show premiered nearly 16 years ago this year and included some major musicians closing paths with Chad Michael Murray and the rest of the cast. Fall Out Boy appeared on the drama many times of course, but other notable appearances include Kid Cudi, Grace Potter, and Lupe Fiasco. Sheryl Crow appeared in the first season and was made perform 'The First Cut is the Deepest' for a lousy cup of coffee.
'Charmed'
If you never got into 'Charmed' back in the '90s then you missed out big time. As well as the show featuring guest stars who have since gone on to have major acting careers, such as Amy Adams, Jon Hamm, and Norman Reedus, Piper's club 'P3' also played host to a few impressive musical acts. The Flaming Lips, Goo Goo Dolls and Janice Robinson all performed, as did the late Dolores O'Riordan and The Cranberries, who sang 'Just My Imagination'.
'Game of Thrones'
No, not because of Ed Sheehan - we'd all like to forget about that little cameo appearance. There have been plenty more musicians who have popped up in and around Westeros that you might not have recognised. Coldplay drummer Will Champion performed as part of the band during that ill-fated Red Wedding, Joel Fry of Animal Circus played Daenerys Targaryen's would-be love interest during seasons four and five, and Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol fame appeared on horseback in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it scene in season four. Icelandic band Sigur Rós made one of the best cameos of the show though, performing the eery 'The Rains of Castamere'.
