Twin Peaks finally hits US screens tonight and its return has been heralded as an epoch in television history.
It really can't be understated just how groundbreaking the original series was, and really did give birth to idea of peak TV and everything that came with. Now that it's returned, almost twenty-five years after the original, what can we expect?
Weirdness and coffee, mostly. Here's a few other things we're definitely expecting.
13. ALBERT ROSENFIELD BEING AN ASSHAT
Seriously, nobody does putdowns quite like Special Agent Rosenfield.
12. LONG PAUSES WHERE NOTHING HAPPENS
Oh, you thought something was going to happen in this scene? Guess again, it's Kyle MacLachlan lying a floor motionless for 13 minutes.
11. COFFEE, OBVIOUSLY
Damn fine coffee.
10. LOTS OF CAMEOS
Considering the cast list for the new season reads like a Who's-Who of acting talent and this season is only eight episodes long, expect a lot of the big names to be cameos of some kind. Michael Bisping is listed as a castmember this season. Really.
9. LOTS OF OVERACTING
This goes without saying, but Twin Peaks operates on a higher plane of reality - and that means lots and lots of overacting.
8. AN UNDENIABLE SENSE OF DREAD MIXED WITH SPLASHES OF HUMOUR
There really hasn't been anything on TV - or in films, for that matter - that managed to so effectively put humour together with a creeping sense of dread and malice like Twin Peaks. David Lynch was a master at it.
7. INAPPROPRIATE DANCING
Again, it just wouldn't be Twin Peaks without coffee or inappropriate dancing.
6. GORDON COLE SHOUTING AT PEOPLE
MY SOCKS ARE ON FIRE!
5. INCREDIBLE CINEMATOGRAPHY FOR A TV SERIES
Again, Twin Peaks was ahead of its time in how it blurred the lines between television and film. Lynch recruited directors like Caleb Deschanel, Lesli Linka Glatter and James Foley for the original series. Diane Keaton - yes, that Diane Keaton - even directed an episode in the second season. This time out, Lynch is directing all the episodes by himself and has reteam with Peter Denning, who was the cinematographer on Mulholland Dr. and Evil Dead II.
4. BACKWARDS TALKING

3. THIS PIECE OF MUSIC
The fact that Angelo Badalamenti did this in one take in insane.
2. SOME KIND OF COMMENTARY ON SOCIETY OVER THE LAST TWENTY-FIVE YEARS
One of the things that David Lynch has always captured is portraying how people portray one face to the world and keep something much darker underneath. That was really the central thesis of Twin Peaks; the idea that an idyllic town harboured a dark secret underneath it all. Considering how social media has sprung up and is nothing but artifice, it'd be no surprise if Lynch had a few comments on it. He's even got a Twitter account himself.
1. ABSOLUTELY NO EXPLANATION FOR ANYTHING GOING ON WHATSOEVER
Did you really expect to understand this show? Of course not. That's why you're here.
