Zayn Malik was on the receiving end of a bit of fan backlash recently after he asked his Twitter followers for donations to help his mum's sick friend.
The former One Direction star tweeted out a link to a GoFundMe Page for his mum's best friend who's looking to raise funds for life saving treatment.
This is my Mums best friend
Please help in any way possible ðŸ™?ðŸ?½https://t.co/ZAdKCNrWqp— zayn (@zaynmalik) April 28, 2017
However considering the amount being sought by Ayesha is 120k and the fact that Malik himself is thought to be worth as much as $40m, it didn't take long for his fans to mention the elephant in the room.

As some fans pointed out, being worth $40m is not the same as actually having that amount of money and it's entirely possibly the musician donated money to the cause himself outside of the Go Fund Me campaign.
What do you think? Should wealthy celebrities be asking their fans for donations to personal causes?
